Responsible Gambling Help in South Africa
If gambling is causing financial stress, secrecy, conflict or loss of control, stop the session and seek support. Current South Africa help routes from official sources are listed below.
Independent guide · South Africa · 18+

Immediate steps
- Leave the game or operator site.
- Do not deposit more to recover a loss.
- Ask a trusted person to help restrict access to money or gambling accounts.
- Use operator limit, timeout or self-exclusion tools only after confirming how they work.
- If there is immediate danger, contact the appropriate South African emergency service.
Signs that play may be harmful
Warning signs include spending beyond a planned limit, chasing losses, hiding activity, borrowing to gamble or continuing despite harm to work or relationships. One sign is enough to pause and get advice.
Practical controls
Set time and spending limits before play, avoid gambling while distressed or intoxicated, and keep gambling separate from essential expenses. A control is useful only if you follow it; blocking or self-exclusion may be more appropriate when limits repeatedly fail.
South Africa support
The South African Responsible Gambling Foundation lists free treatment and counselling at 0800 006 008 and WhatsApp at 076 675 0710, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The National Gambling Board says self-exclusion can be requested through the operator or the relevant Provincial Gambling Board.
Gambling is restricted to adults aged 18 or older. These help and authority routes are independent of this site and are not affiliate links.
